Music is powerful. It’s one of the things on earth that has a profound effect on all of us. Songs have meaning. When we go through a transition in life that is traumatic or painful we often relate to certain songs. They illicit feelings and emotions we may not want to face or deal with. Yet every time that certain song or songs come on, it rips that band-aid right off again.
Its said that time heals all wounds. That’s semi-true. I think you also need to actively work on letting stuff go. You know you are on the right track to healing and moving forward when you can listen to the same songs that were once heart wrenching and not feel that internal awful tug but instead just appreciate it as music once again.
Life is about growth and progress. This is just an interesting marker.
While it may sound out of the box at first when you hear the suggestion that you should journal your feelings and thoughts in order to be healthy and even defeat illness the truth is it can help and it most certainly cannot hurt.
Sometimes there are just certain feelings and topics you really don’t have anyone to talk to about, at least not without forking over $150 an hour to a therapist. Journaling is free. You can do it by yourself, and there is no one there to judge.
The point of journaling isn’t to record whats going on in your life, soul or brain, it is to get it out of you once and for all. Its a form of self-therapy and self-awareness. You don’t need a topic and you don’t need to be a writer. All you need is a paper and a pen or pencil, or if you prefer, a keyboard and a word processing program.
No one else ever need read your thoughts. There doesn’t have to be any rhyme or reason to them. There is no right or wrong. Just start. Whatever comes out of you comes out.
You can write freeform – thoughts, feelings, ideas, concepts, just let it all go.
You can also use journaling as a way to get out things that you wish you could say to someone – this may be someone who is living or who have passed on. You don’t have to do anything with the letter, or if you are so inclined and think it would help you further, mail the letter to the receiver afterward. Tearing it up or burning them are also other options that seal the feeling of closure.
There really are no rules. Journaling can be done as often as you like and is sometimes referred to as automatic writing. The words sometimes start to flow so freely many have stated that it feels as if someone is writing through them. That is because writing is creative. It involves the right side of the brain. Time may seem to stand still. The thoughts are coming from your subconscious mind. Don’t fight against it, you may be surprised at some of the things that come out and the breakthroughs you may have.
It’s a good feeling to be able to work through tough situations and times all on your own. Though we also want to make sure to mention that if you are going through something and do feel like you need outside help, asking for help is never a sign of weakness but of strength.
How this is helpful for health
Health is often a manifestation outwardly of our inner emotions. While treatments, medications, diets, and more may help us fix and adjust our bodies to truly heal its that inner cause that needs to be rooted out and corrected.

Are you one of the few who is able to fully remember what you dreamed about the night before?
If not, some help may lie in ancient deep sleep promoting herbs.
Dreams help us to process thoughts, feelings, emotions and daily stress. They are there for a reason and though many books have been written on dream interpretation, no one can really interpret a dream for you. Symbols, people, places, actions all hold personal meaning. A lack of sleep, especially REM sleep, leads to a feeling of exhaustion and sometimes can even contribute to depression over time.
What is the difference between regular dreaming and lucid dreaming?
Have you ever been in a dream and realized it was a dream, and were able to consciously guide it? This is what is known as lucid dreaming. Most of the time when we dream we see images hear words, sounds, feel, smell, touch, taste – it may seem very real but we are generally unaware that we are in a dream state or even asleep until we wake up.
Being able to remember and even guide your dreams can be incredibly empowering not to mention fun, but it can also be therapeutic at times.
There are a couple of herbs which are completely legal which can help support your body’s ability to sleep deeply and increase the potential for lucid dreams to take place.
The first is Valerian Root
Valerian has been used in medicine for hundred of years as a calming aid, muscle relaxant, and promoter of deep sleep. Because lucid dreaming usually requires a heightened state of REM Sleep, it has become a commonly reported side effect of Valerian root.
Robert Monroe, a famed specialist in Out Of Body Experiences, once was quoted as saying, “Most of us dream, and those who don’t simply are not remembering them.” Many also report that Valerian greatly improves the ability to remember their dreams.
If you are looking for an herb that not only promotes the desired deep states of sleep that make way for vivid dreams, but also enhances our ability to remember them the next day. Valerian shows strong potential in many people.
Warning: If you are pregnant, very few studies have been done on Valerian’s effects on pregnancy. Best to avoid.
Preparation: Fresh Valerian Root is best and is most commonly brewed in a tea. Take care to use water that is hot, but not boiling as boiling can destroy the oils in the root. In order to preserve the delicate oils in the root.
Another great choice is Wild Asparagus Root
Wild Asparagus Root has been used by monks, shaman and yogis in the Chinese tradition for a very long time. In Chinese it is said Tian Men Dong, meaning Heavenly Spirit Herb. It has also been known as “The Flying Herb”, believed to help one fly through the universe while sleeping, achieving amazing dreams. Chinese schools of wisdom placed high value on lucid dreaming.
In Chinese folk medicine, it is also believed that Wild Asparagus Root has a direct and positive effect on the heart energy, dissolving the dualities that come with our physical incarnation.
Preparation: the best way to use wild asparagus for dream enhancement is to brew a tea of either the fresh or dried root. Keep in mind that a tea from the fresh root will be much more potent.

As humans, I think we have a tendency to over think things.
We are so smart, we seem to outsmart ourselves.
We spend endless amounts of time pondering rather than feeling our way through things and actually acting on those feelings.
I have no idea.
I think it may very well be a trained behavior. As kids the advice most of us received was “Now (fill in your name), you want to think about this before you decide….” Our parents and advisers most certainly meant well. But decisions based on logical thought vs. gut intuition aren’t always in our best interest. We really can talk ourselves into pretty much anything, given enough time.
By adulthood most of us realize that in our lives, the times we have ignored “that little inner voice” (call it your higher self, inner self, God, The Universe, intuition – choose your label), things go terribly wrong.
Yet, even in consciously realizing this, we still question it.
We choose often “rational” thought over gut feeling.
It takes time and practice to be guided by intuition. Feelings are a gift. They are intended to be our GPS in life. Stop over complicating things.
Directions for a happy easy flowing life:
1. If it makes you happy or feel positive about yourself and the situation around you? KEEP DOING IT!
2. If it makes you unhappy or feel badly about yourself or the situation around you? STOP DOING IT.
Can’t believe it’s that easy? Try it and see what results you get.
