SELF SABOTAGE

Our lives are a reflection of our how we feel about and what we believe of ourselves. It’s often times easier to look around and see a world in chaos and blame that for the issues in our own lives. The problem with that is it is not only false, that belief also keeps you powerless because so long as the problems are “Someone else’s fault”… You can’t do a darn thing to fix them. It’s immobilizing and can be life halting.

Often times when we end up in a bad situation, whatever it may be, the easiest thing is to point the finger and declare that “I cannot believe so and so did this to me!” In reality, every situation, no matter how screwed up is self created and at the very least co-created with that other party.

That fact has been a tough one to face at times in my own life as I have gotten into some precarious situations I would far rather have owned no part of the responsibility in. Ultimately though, no one got me there but me. Likewise, no one else could get me back.

Self sabotage is never done purposefully and rarely even consciously. It is very often done in the name of self-sacrifice and in an attempt to help or save other people. The intent is viewed as good, even at times altruistic. After all, who on earth would want to make bad decisions for themselves that would harm their life and well-being? No one.

Subconsciously, however, is a whole other ball of wax. Underneath this outer veneer we show the world, and often times ourselves, lies our base primal thoughts and programming. They are what drive us on an instinctual reaction based level.

What phrases or words do you hear in your mind? What thoughts do you think repetitively? They can be things said by parents, friends, enemies, random strangers, whomever. It can even be opinions you have formed about yourself over time… certain thoughts and core level beliefs are there, ingrained and stuck on loop.

Are you holding on to anger, resentment, fear? If you find yourself constantly in a state of feeling like your life is out of control and going in the wrong direction, I can almost guarantee you are subconsciously sabotaging yourself.

How do you change that?

Being brave enough and caring about yourself enough to want to heal is the first step. Being open to facing yourself, truthfully, come what may, is vital. There are no right or wrong answers or feelings here. Like life, it’s all just a learning and growing experience. We are all perfect in our own unique state of imperfection. We are works in progress and self-acceptance which leads to self-love is key.

I have read tons of articles that seem to believe that you can change your behaviors based purely in purposely correcting your thoughts. While I view this as helpful, unless you can root out the core of where that thought came from in the first place and release it I don’t see how it can ever truly be healed. That approach seems more like a bandaid than some good stitches and soothing salve.

One of the best courses I have found on this subject is a DailyOm.com course by the late Debbie Ford. “Overcoming self-sabotage” is an 8 week audio meditation course that helps you to relax and access easily the information from within that you are looking for.

Let the old fall away and make room for a new better life and a new happier you.

Are you getting engaged?

Getting engaged is one of the biggest decisions of your life. You’ve found the right girl, now you need the right ring.

Giving your betrothed to be an offering of a ring can be traced back to ancient Egypt. Egyptians have been found buried wedding rings made of precious metal wire on the ring finger of their left hands. The reasoning behind this is that the ring finger is believed to be connected directly to the heart by the vena amoris.

Over time simple silver or gold wire has evolved into a huge and varied array of gold, platinum, silver, and titanium rings and bands. The engagement ring in particular is centered around one or more diamonds which have in themselves become an internationally recognized symbol of love.

Pawn Shop vs. Retail Jewelry Store

When it comes to buying a diamond ring don’t fall prey to lavish advertising campaigns. At the end of the day no matter where you shop what matters – is the ring itself.

The typical markup in the retail jewelry industry is right around 1,000%.

That means that when you are browsing the cases in a retail store, a ring which is priced at $1,999 likely only cost them from $149 to $199. You are paying for overhead, salaries, rent of high-end real estate, brand recognition, prestige, and the fluffed up shopping experience. It is an expensive business to be in, and that expense gets passed on to the consumer.

Pawn shops don’t care what the retail price of the ring was. We realize that is an artificially constructed number. Some sellers may think they are being low balled on the offer when pawn shops buy, but that simply isn’t the truth. They are normally offering a good amount for what the real value of the ring is based on stone, metal, quality of craftsmanship and design.

Because of this, once the ring is thoroughly checked by First Pawn’s in house jeweler, professionally cleaned and in the best condition possible it is placed for sale at a small fraction of the original retail asking price despite often being in the very same condition.

Selection

Pawn shops offer a huge selection in style of rings from vintage heirloom pieces to recent designer fashions. Each as unique as your love.

Before you buy an engagement ring retail, come shop First Pawn Jewelry and Loan and check out our selection. Buying an engagement ring at your local pawn shop is the smart choice. Save that extra money for the honeymoon!

Popular Misconceptions about Pawn Shops

There tends to be a kind of a stigma attached to the very title of “Pawn Shop”. Over the years though portrayals in TV, movies, news media, even friends, neighbors and family the pawn industry had gained a rather seedy reputation of being a lower end genre of store which fenced goods, sometimes even stolen merchandise. It simply wasn’t viewed by most as the kind of place the majority of society shopped.

This simply is not accurate.
Lets take a look at what MYTH vs. FACT when it comes to the Pawn Industry.

MYTH: Pawn shops buy and sell stolen goods.

FACT: Pawn shops abide by all local, state and federal laws. They are specially licensed and work with the police to prevent the selling of stolen merchandise. All transactions are accompanied by the seller presenting not only a valid photo ID, but also stamping the contract with a finger print. All merchandise received in is carefully catalogued for inventory purposes in cooperation with the local authorities. The police regularly compare serial numbers against items reported stolen, enabling the return of recovered merchandise to the rightful owner whenever possible.

MYTH: The clientele pawn shops attract are sleazy undesirables.

FACT: The typical loan customer who comes in and pawns an item is local to the store and just happens to need a cash loan in the short term for unexpected expenses. It isn’t usually a lack of employment or income that drives them it, its lack of savings. They are living check to check like most of America and occasionally those checks or pay period times run a few days short.

FACT: Pawn shop shoppers are bargain hunters! Why pay retail when gently loved merchandise, which seems new anyway, is often times available at hugely discounted rates?

MYTH: Pawn shops operate as they please, unregulated.

FACT: Pawn brokering is actually a heavily regulated business. In fact, at the local or state level, most pawn brokers are required to be licensed and regulated. At the federal level, they follow rules from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Fire Arms (ATF) and are regulated by the Federal Reserve Board almost in the same ways as banks. They are also required by the Patriot Act to check all customers against the Treasury Department‘s database of known terrorists. Attempting to sell stolen goods to a pawn shop really isn’t a smart move!

MYTH: Pawn shops are the last resort for people with bad credit to get loans.

FACT: Customers find that loans from pawn shops are better than borrowing money from a family or friend. Plus, it’s quick, confidential and a customer gets part of the value the pawnbroker believes the collateral would bring in if sold. Sure, the loan to collateral ratio varies depending on the type of goods pledged, but a loan of 30-50 percent of the resale of the collateral is pretty common.

MYTH: Pawn shops hope you don’t come back for your pawned items so that they can sell them.

FACT: Pawn shops have limited space to store everything. They are gaining the interest on your loan, not to steal your belongings. All pawned items are carefully catalogued and tracked. Here at First Pawn we double check by calling you if you have not come back in for your items prior to considering it as inventory and a closed loan.

MYTH: People only pawn items when they don’t want them anymore and don’t really care if they get them back.
FACT: Pawn loans are far faster and more easily granted than trying to work with a bank based on credit. Pawn loans are the only credit product that have ever been available that give the borrower short term cash, obligation free.

MYTH: Pawn shops don’t really have good brand name merchandise, its all just used junk.

FACT: We live in a fast paced, high tech society. Upgrading is the standard. We all want to keep up with the Joneses. When the new iPhones come out, the newest gaming console, or the bigger better badder TV we are where the second to last model may end up, BUT we also have top end state of the art merchandise as well, we are ready for you to come in and up grade! Even diamonds are “upgradable”. Customers trade in their old “whatever-it-might-be” and it helps to significantly offset the cost of the newer shinier version with more bells and whistles. The fact is that shopping and upgrading at a First Pawn can save you huge amounts of money.

Tv shows featuring high end pawn shops such as Pawn Stars are helping to break the myths and present the reality of daily business in the pawn industry. It takes a vast amount of knowledge over a wide gamut of subjects, strict adherence to laws and regulations, a high level of personalized customer service and a careful inventory system to make a shop successful.

Here at First Pawn Jewelry and Loan, we take pride in our business. We appreciate our customers and want you to have the very best experience possible. If you are looking for something special or just need a little extra cash, come in today and talk with us. We are located at 886 Airport Rd. S. Naples, FL 34103. An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away!

Everyone has heard the old adage “An apple a day keeps the doctor away!” Apples are an amazing fruit and incredibly good for you. Sometimes overlooked with the recent popularity and media coverage of the newly deemed “Super Fruits” such as Acai, Black Currents, Blueberries and Pomegranates, which are known for the high antioxidant levels contained, Apples boast the ability to help with numerous aliments as well as maintain overall health.

Where did this saying come from? The first printed quote was in 1866 in the February issue of “Notes and Queries”. It was stated as “Eat an apple on going to bed, and you’ll keep the doctor from earning his bread.” It was later translated to the more modern “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Any saying that sticks around for nearly 150 years must have some truth to it. Right?

What is in apples that make them so good for us? First of all apples contain Pectin, which is a form of soluble fiber helpful in maintaining proper digestion and cholesterol levels. Apples also contain Boron, which supports brain and bone health. Add to that Quercetin which helps to reduce free radical damage and shows possibility in offering protection against cancer. And everyone’s favorite, Vitamin C which boosts immunity and over all health!

Now add to that that apples also help to clean your teeth and kill bacteria in your mouth, reducing the risk of tooth decay.

Apple cider vinegar, made from pressed fermented apples, also has tremendous health benefits. Taking apple cider vinegar daily promotes weight loss and control, as it helps your body to work more efficiently and burn off excess calories, which can taper your waistline over time. It also helps to improve blood flow and supports the circulatory system while promoting free and easy movement of the joints. The benefits don’t stop there. Apple cider vinegar also promotes a healthy stomach and digestive tract as well as keeping blood sugar in check! Plus, its great for your complexion.

When taken on a daily basis either as liquid mixed with water or in capsule form, this old time remedy is touted to assist in healing sinus infections, allergies, acne, high cholesterol, flu, chronic fatigue, Candida, acid reflux, sore throat, contact dermatitis, arthritis and even gout.

Even further this is also wonderful for your pets health. Including dogs, cats and even horses. It can control fleas, ticks, and barn flies while giving their coats a luxurious shine.

As if that weren’t enough to make you run out and buy a bottle, it is also fantastic for household cleaning, deodorizing and disinfecting! It works miracles on glass and is streak free!

Plus? They are just delicious, so next time you reach for a snack, grab an apple!

Words are powerful

Words are powerful. When spoken with intention they can lift you up or crush your spirit. The problem is that many of us speak without thinking, especially in the heat of the moment, and unfortunately words that cannot be unsaid can last a lifetime.

The words of others have helped to shape who we are, how we think, how we view the world, and more importantly how we see ourselves. But what if the view we have been given isn’t accurate?

Often these embedded thoughts have been spoken through filters of other people’s views, projecting their insecurities, weaknesses and anger on to us.

One of the most powerful statements I have heard spoken is “Mean people hurt”.

It holds a double meaning and a vicious circle effect. Those who are angry towards others do hurt them through their words and actions, but they have also been hurt and are hurting or they would not feel the need to lash out.

Choosing to live consciously, pause and think before speaking and break that repetitive destructive cycle is the only way free.

This little story “The Fence” is one of the most poignant illustrations I have ever come across and I wanted to share it with you.

“There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence.

The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily, gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, “You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same.

When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one.” You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound is still there. Make sure you control your temper the next time you are tempted to say something you will regret later.” – Author Unknown

Treat others as you yourself would like and expect to be treated. It will come back to you either way.

Lil’ Dog needs knee surgery

Hi everybody. My name is Bailey. I’m a spunky loving 10 year old Lhasa Apso who lives in Sunny Florida.  After I was given up for adoption by my original family, my Sarah adopted me. She loves me more than anything in the entire world.  My life is wonderful, but lately my little back knee really hurts a lot. I am having trouble walking.

I didn’t want to say anything or tell Sarah cause she would worry about me, but I can’t help limping and she took me to the vet.

He says I need surgery. I have somehow torn my ACL and damaged my meniscus. This scares me and Sarah says it’s very expensive. I would get a job and help, but well… I am a fuzzy little dog.  My talents encompass napping, rolling around and moaning, eating things, going for walks and snuggling. No one is hiring for this.

My Sarah’s company got bought out a couple of months ago and she is only working part time so this is bad timing in our house.

I hate to bother the humans… as I know you need money to buy your own snackie things… but if you are so inclined to help a little dog out both I and my Sarah would be forever thankful.

I have to schedule another appointment to meet with the surgeon next week. The best guestimate the office staff was able to give today was $3500.

Love,

Bailey Lhasa Apso

UPDATE!: Bailey has had his surgery. He is in recuperation mode.  He is doing very very well and the fur is starting to grow back on his leg, the incision is healing very well. Beginning to go on walks again! 🙂 Thanks to all of you for the support, both financial and in shares and love.

Are my auto insurance coverage limits high enough?

The last thing you want to deal with is being involved in an auto accident, at fault or not, and realizing that you have sub-par auto insurance coverage. You are rattled, shaken, possibly injured, your car is likely damaged, you may even have injured someone else and you certainly don’t want to have to deal with the possibility of being sued or having to come out of pocket to rectify the situation.

This never needs to be a concern if you take a proactive approach. Working with a reputable independent insurance representative from Centennial Insurance is the best way to make sure that your coverage fits your life, your needs and your automobile.

What is factored in when considering coverage:

Your income, lifestyle, assets and vehicle are a consideration that many fail to take into account. We all like to save money, especially on monthly bills, but cutting costs by way of your auto policy may not be the smart move.

If you own your home or other property, other vehicles or have substantial savings in the bank unless you are properly insured you may be at risk should an accident occur. The greater the value of your assetsthe more you stand to lose. It’s important to make sure your liability insurance is set high enough.

Liability – (Damage done to the other party) is separated into two categories:

Property Damage – The minimum for Florida is $10,000. It is unlikely that is enough to really protect you in an accident. New cars on the road today can range anywhere from $11,000 to upwards of $200,000 for luxury or sport models. That could leave you holding an incredibly expensive repair or replacement bill.

Bodily Injury – The minimum coverage for bodily injury here in Florida is $10,000 per person or $20,000 per accident.  If you injure someone, you could be sued for very high amount.  The amount of Liability coverage you carry should be high enough to protect your assets in the event of an accident. Cheap discount auto insurance almost never pays off in the end. Save now = Pay later.

Damage incurred to your vehicle:

Comprehensive – Covers the cost of damages to your car not caused by a collision. The higher the deductible you choose, the lower your monthly premium will be. Comprehensive covers things like fire, theft, hurricane or storm damage.

Collision – Covers the cost of damage to your own car due to an accident. The value is based on the value of your car, truck or motorcycle. Only a deductible need be set. The higher the deductible you choose, the lower the premium will go.

Other important coverage:

Uninsured Motorist Coverage – If you have an accident and the other driver is found to be at fault but has no insurance, uninsured motorist coverage covers the space between your costs and the other driver’s coverage, up to the limits set on your coverage.

Personal Injury Protection (“PIP” or “No-fault”) Florida is a no-fault state. PIP covers your medical expenses and those of your passengers, no matter who was responsible.

Medical Expenses – Takes care of the cost of medical care for you and your passengers in the event of an accident.  The limit you choose is the maximum that will be paid for each person.

Having the right insurance levels set can help to set your mind at ease should you be involved in any type of auto accident.

Sarah Radio Interview Replay & Health Suggestions

In case you missed the show on Sunday August 17th for the Dr. Leonard Coldlwell Opinion Radio Show, here is the link for the replay.

http://www1.gcnlive.com/CMS/index.php/archivespage?showCode=71

What I personally did to change by body, heal myself and change my life:

  1. I had started the Body for Life program for weight loss

http://bodyforlife.com/

There is of course more information and the “Challenge” you can enter on the site. *I do not recommend using their shakes. They have artificial sweeteners in them. I would use Intek Nutrition.(which is sweetened with Stevia.) http://www.inteknutrition.com/PRODUCTS/PROTEIN%20EVOLUTION/protein.html

And Nutracore nutrition’s Amino Active (to replace the Betagen/Phosagen from Body for life) http://nutracorenutrition.com/index.php/our-products-1/aminocore.html

What you do daily during Body For Life:

Wake up – drink 1 large glass of water.
Before going to work out – 1 Protein Shake and 1 Amino Active.

Post work out – 1 Amino Active.

Breakfast – Equal amounts of protein/carbs

Snack (like 10 am) – piece of fruit

Mid day – Shake

Lunch – Equal amounts protein/carbs/vege or salad (any size)

Later in the day – Snack – veggies or protein

Dinner – Equal amounts protein/carbs/vege or salad (any size)

Evening (IF you are hungry) ½ shake.

What you do:
work out at whatever level you are at for 30 min cardio and 30 min weight bearing exercise. IF you are using weights…. Reps are done starting with the max weight you are comfortable with (complete 10-20 reps) Then go down 5-10 lbs in increments and complete more reps, and repeat at 5-10 lbs less weight. (so it gets easier as you get more tired).

NOW along with this – which is shedding fat (which holds the toxins) and keeping the muscle (amino acids suppress the break down and protein helps build new muscle). *I still ate meat. I had no clue about GMO’s (not sure if that was in the food supply at the time or not), I didn’t do organic (though doing this now I would).
SUNDAY is the free day. do and eat whatever you please! keeps you from feeling like you are restricted.

SUGGESTIONS:

1. Start a RAW diet – go completely raw for 30 days (or more)

2. Do a full body cellular detoxification BePure is the best one I have found and I have tried a ton.

3.  Skin Brushing http://www.hcbl.com/blog/skin-brushing-to-detoxify-your-lymphatic-drainage-system/

4. Caster Oil Packs http://www.hcbl.com/blog/castor-oil-packs/

5. Drink as much water as you can. Aim for a gallon a day. *add a pinch of pink salt for minerals.

6. – Kidney/Gallbladder cleanse – http://www.hcbl.com/blog/gallstones-%E2%80%93-ridding-yourself-of-them-painlessly-without-surgery/

7. – Regular chiropractic care and massage

8. – Periodic water fasts 24-36 hrs.

9. –  I think this was the most important – I saw myself as healthy and well….
I originally published this as a book but it wasn’t getting out fast enough – have her read this 3 part blog CANCER – TAKING YOUR POWER BACK

http://blogs.naturalnews.com/cancer-taking-your-power-back-part-1/

http://blogs.naturalnews.com/cancer-taking-your-power-back-part-2/

http://blogs.naturalnews.com/cancer-taking-your-power-back-part-3/

10. – I also decided to have as much fun as possible and to no longer do anything that didn’t feel right or make me happy. This included relationships, friends, jobs everything. If I didn’t like it – I would quit! Or tell you to take a hike! I was no longer living my life trying to make someone else happy, because in the end you cant MAKE anyone anything – other than yourself of course… So I chose happy. The result of that is that happy IS healthy.
*If I were to do this today: I would also: use essential oils – They are anti tumorigenic by nature:

11. Sandalwood, Lavender, and  Frankincense Essential Oils actually can correct DNA mutations. Oils can be used topically, by inhallation, or internally (in water or capsule so long as the purity is good. I personally will only take Doterra and or Young Livings oils).

12. Do Oil pulling – daily when you wake up. http://www.hcbl.com/blog/oil-pulling-for-detoxification/

13. Supplement your diet as needed with vitamins. I get most of mine from Health Center for Better Living. HCBL.com

Dextoxing – What is a Herxheimer Reaction?

You have made the decision to get healthier. You decide on a cleanse and are mentally prepared to take the herbs, consume the potions, use the essential oils, drink all that water, and whatever else comes with it. What most are not prepared for is suddenly feeling under the weather out of the blue. It didn’t say anything about this on the label or in the advertising. So, why do you sometimes feel sick when you do an internal cleanse or detox?

It’s called a Herxheimer reaction. Herxheimer reactions are a result of inflammation in the body. When you do a detox, it allows your body to release old bacteria, viruses, and toxins which are harmful to your system and need to be flushed out in order for you to truly be in a state of health.

During a cleanse, the herbs, essential oils, vitamins and minerals are specially combined to kill off bacteria, viruses, parasites and toxins and to dislodge old putrefied food and materials that have built up in the body and in the cells. The reaction occurs when injured or dead bacteria/viruses are released allowing the decomposing endotoxins into the blood and tissue faster than the body can handle comfortably.

This provokes an inflammatory response which presents itself in an over exaggerated form of whatever the original illness was.

For example, if you still have flu virus in your body, you will feel temporarily like you have the flu. You may feel feverish, have a headache or just feel very run down. It may come and go but will pass usually in a matter of hours or days.

Knowing this is a possibility going in to a cleanse makes it far easier to deal with. In many cases, people unaware of what a Herxheimer reaction is and have assumed that the detox itself was making them sick, so of course stop the cleanse when what was really needed was more water and to keep going allowing release and clearing.

The most common symptoms reported in a Herxheimer reaction are increased fatigue, joint or muscle pain, skin rashes, photosensitivity, irritability, dizziness, sleep disturbances, asthenia, muscle cramps, night sweats, hypertension, hypotension, headaches (especially migraines) and swollen glands. Also reported are heavy perspiration, metallic taste in mouth, chills, nausea, bloating, constipation or diarrhea, low grade fever, heart palpitations, tachycardia, facial palsy, tinnitus, mental confusion, uncoordinated movement, bone pain, flu-like syndrome, conjunctivitis and throat swelling.

Please don’t let this scare you away from doing internal cleanses… These symptoms present themselves most often during parasite and candida cleanses. You will only have a reaction IF your body has candida or parasites in it. If it does not, the herbs will simply pass through.

The Herxheimer reaction may be unpleasant temporarily, but it is just temporary. Clearing your body allows it to run properly preventing sickness and disease down the road. The inconvenience is well worth the outcome.

List of cleanses that have worked very well for me over the years:

Energetix accompanied by Standard Process Supplements – with the guidance of a Nutritional Response Therapist (google for someone in your area “Nutritional Response Testing + your zip code”)
BePure 21 Day Cellular whole body Cleanse (no longer manufactured)
Herbal Fiber Blend (colon cleanse)
Juice, Oil, Epsom Salts kidney/gallbladder cleanse
Zendocrine from doTERRA
